About St. George

St. George gives a new and fresh view of your world everyday. It truly is the jewel of the desert.

The greater St. George area is an inviting place to go to college, raise a family, vacation, or retire. Washington County population is over 140,000, while St. George proper is experiencing continual growth of over 65,000. At 2,760 feet above sea level those who live or visit here experience an average of 300 sunny days. The average yearly temperature is 77 degrees with the median temperature in December and January at 31 degrees and July topping a median of 101 degrees.

Because of the wonderful, moderate temperatures one can golf on any of the 10 championship courses year round. As well, hiking, biking, and walking trails can be found throughout the community. Zions , Kolob Canyon, Cedar Breaks and Bryce Canyon National Park are within an hour or two driving distance. With too many activities to mention there are a few that claim national attention: St. George Marathon, Ford Ironman, Huntsman World Senior Games, and Tuachan, host to musicals and plays in an outdoor amphitheatre.
